Nicholas O ’Malley (July 5, 1985), aged 16, played on his first bass.“ I liked the idea of being a drummer, but my dad quickly told me it wasn’t the best choice. The guitar looked very complicated, so I thought the bass would be right for me. ” Still in a second quote about the emergence of his possible influence: “At 16 I listened a lot to Red Hot Chili Peppers and Rage Against The Machine: at that time I had not created the habit of paying attention to the bass in the songs, and the bass was very evident in those bands ”. Before being a Monkey, O'Malley was part of the band The Dodgems, where he was also a bassist. He has been a bassist for the band Arctic Monkeys since May 2006, when he temporarily joined to replace Andy Nicholson, who was down from the heavy routine of performances. Nick's first show was at Old Blue Last, London, a nightclub with a capacity for only 120 people before heading to North America, where they would perform in Vancouver, and then a sequence of shows in the United States. Leave Before the Lights Come On, single released August 14, 2006, was the first song recorded in the studio with Nick as a bassist: “I learned to play the album (the first) in two days or so. I basically didn't even leave the house, I just stayed and learned all the songs. So we went to London. They were recording the new single ‘Leave Before The Lights Come On.’ ”O’Malley is married to Kelly Boss and has two children, Hearst and Iggy O’Malley.
